The City Council Housing and Human Needs Committee will conduct a meeting on Monday, September 18, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. in the City Council Chamber on the first floor of City Hall. The items offered for Housing and Human Needs Committee consideration are presented subject to the chairman’s approval. City Council Housing and Human Needs Committee meetings are generally accessible to persons with disabilities. Agenda items are as follows:

I. Status Report : Nielsen Media Research New Orleans Market Re-Entry Project relative to Demographic Household Sampling.

a) Nielsen mission specific coordination of field activities to document and classify household characteristics
b) Volume and type of information anticipated from field exercise and reporting
c) Extrapolation of data for multi-use purposes and verification of household characteristics to support general government program funding criteria
d) Coordination of field research activities and documentation to support new and returning private market and business consumer investment in the New Orleans Metropolitan statistical area (MSA)

II. Status Report: Walton Construction/Elevation of slab homes and frame constructed houses with pillar foundations.

a) Elevation design standards for houses with slab foundations vs. pillar foundation
b) Subsurface correction of degraded foundations and with weakened top soil or site specific topographical shifts prior to raising foundation height.
c) Damaged Housing alternatives including: installation, design and site specific construction of pre-fabricated housing or modular housing.
